In Matthew 4 Jesus, walking along the Sea of Galilee, preaching: “Repent for the Kingdom of God is near”, calls His first disciples. They have heard of Jesus or heard him speak, but their lives were still unchanged. Their lives—still their own.
Jesus says simply, “Come and follow me. I will show you how to fish for people.”
Fitting words for fishermen, but with what words would Jesus call us today? Come, follow me…BUILD for the Kingdom. TEACH, ORGANIZE, INVEST or SERVE PEOPLE for the Kingdom. We find fulfillment when we surrender all to follow Him.
Things to think about:
1. What skills, gifts, or experiences could you give in order to serve Christ and His Kingdom?
2. What do you need to give up, surrender or let go of to more fully serve Christ?
